The Challenge

Traditional credit scores miss the real-time financial context that determines whether a consumer can afford a BNPL purchase today.

The Solution

Fiskil analyses CDR bank transaction data to build a real-time credit profile based on actual cash flow, income stability, spending patterns, and financial behaviour — not just historical credit events.

Capabilities

How Fiskil Helps

Cash Flow Scoring

Generate a cash flow score based on income regularity, surplus cash after commitments, savings behaviour, and account balance trends — signals that predict BNPL repayment better than credit scores.

Income Pattern Analysis

Identify income sources, regularity, and trends. Detect recent changes like job transitions or income drops that credit bureaus take months to reflect.

Financial Stress Detection

Identify early warning signs of financial stress including declining balances, increasing overdraft usage, dishonoured payments, and growing BNPL stacking across providers.

Thin-File Customer Assessment

Assess creditworthiness for consumers with limited credit history by analysing their banking behaviour — income deposits, bill payment patterns, and savings consistency.

Implementation

How It Works

1

Customer Connects Banking

At registration or first purchase, the customer connects their primary bank account via CDR consent. The process takes under 2 minutes.

2

Build Cash Flow Profile

Fiskil analyses 3-6 months of transaction history to generate a cash flow profile covering income, expenses, commitments, and behavioural indicators.

3

Generate Credit Assessment

The API returns a structured credit assessment including cash flow score, risk flags, recommended spending limit, and supporting data points for your decisioning engine.

4

Integrate with Decisioning

Feed the CDR credit assessment into your existing decisioning rules alongside (or instead of) traditional credit bureau data to make smarter approve/decline/limit decisions.

FAQs

Credit bureau scores are based on historical credit events (defaults, inquiries, repayment history on reported products). Cash flow scoring analyses real-time bank data — actual income, current spending, savings behaviour, and live account balances — to assess current capacity to repay.

For many BNPL use cases, CDR data provides a superior signal. However, most providers use CDR data alongside credit bureau checks for a comprehensive view. CDR is particularly valuable where credit bureau data is thin or stale.

Consumers with limited credit history still have bank accounts. The API analyses their income deposit patterns, bill payment behaviour, savings consistency, and account management to build a creditworthiness profile from banking behaviour alone.

The API detects declining account balances over time, increasing overdraft or unarranged borrowing, dishonoured direct debits, growing BNPL commitments, gambling transactions, and income disruptions such as missed salary deposits.

For customers with pre-connected bank accounts and a current financial profile, the credit assessment endpoint typically responds in under 3 seconds. Initial profile building from historical transaction data takes 10-30 seconds.
